A Letter from President Bob Ryan

Dear Brophy Community,

As our centennial in 2028  approaches, we are challenged to look beyond the present and imagine what Brophy will need in its next hundred years. The pace of change in our world demands a school that never stops adapting yet remains focused on our core mission. We must continue to form young men who think critically, act with conscience, and live lives of loving service. Our ability to sustain this mission in ways that respond to the signs of our times will depend on the people who accompany our students, the programs that nurture their growth, and the places that shape their experience.

This generation of students is also revealing something essential about the heart of Brophy. Many are searching for a deeper encounter with God and a connection to a community grounded in faith.  Through retreats, immersion experiences, and the OCIA program, we see young men who are not only asking questions about belief but stepping forward with conviction to live it. In their questions, we recognize the same desire that has guided Jesuit education for centuries: to find God in all things and to let that discovery shape the whole of one’s life.

Looking ahead, our responsibility is twofold: to honor what has been entrusted to us and to prepare for what is yet to come. The classrooms, performance and competition venues, and gathering spaces that serve today’s students were built by those who believed in the mission long before they could see its results. In the same way, we are now shaping the environment that future generations will inherit. Our care for these spaces, both physical and spiritual, ensures that Brophy remains a home where young people begin to discover not only what they wish to do, but who they are called to become.

The Brophy Fund fuels this work. It supports programs that expand imagination and service. It sustains the people whose mentorship defines our culture. It preserves the physical spaces that give life to our mission. Each contribution strengthens the foundation on which future generations will build.

Our mission begins with the call to manifest God’s love for the world by promoting human flourishing. That vision guides every decision we make and every hope we hold for Brophy’s second century. With gratitude for all who have shaped this community, we continue the work of forming Men for Others.

Thank you for walking with us and for believing in what Brophy can yet become.
