Brophy College Preparatory Strategic Priorities
Pursuing the Magis
OUR MISSION
To form Men for Others committed to faith-filled lives of service and leadership through a Jesuit, Catholic, college preparatory education.
OUR VISION
To manifest God’s love for the world by promoting human flourishing within a community of faith and hope that forms leaders in service who are strengthened by a brotherhood that lasts a lifetime.
OUR BELIEFS AND PHILOSOPHY
We believe all of creation is a reflection of God’s loving presence which leads us to lives of generous service. We are dedicated to students of all socio-economic backgrounds who have the potential and desire to maximize their Godgiven gifts. We strive to create safe, welcoming environments that maximize academic, emotional, and spiritual growth, in harmony with a student’s own curiosity, capability, and commitment. We partner with our students’ parents and families to develop articulate and compassionate men with a strong sense of self-worth, a thirst for justice, and a distinct ability to critically consider and thoughtfully discern the complexity of our world. Brophy offers our students an atmosphere of rigor and excellence alongside the opportunity to form an intimate relationship with God. It is at this intersection of scholarship and spirituality that we aim to form Men for Others.
Our Strategic Priorities
Our strategic priorities give meaning, momentum, and direction to our vision.
Promote Human Flourishing
Promoting curiosity, innovation, and scholarship within each young man such that he is formed as a whole person prepared to discern his vocation, live in the courage of his convictions, and make his unique impact on the world.
We hold academic excellence in the larger context of what it means to achieve human excellence. St. Irenaeus declared, “The glory of God is a human person fully alive.” We work to satisfy God’s desire for each of our students to flourish as unique, individual human persons. We answer this call by promoting curiosity, innovation, passion, and scholarship within each young man such that he is formed as a whole person prepared to embrace his vocation, live in the courage of his convictions, and make his impact on the world.

This perspective informs our curriculum and course offerings, pedagogical approach, commitment to the arts, relationship with technology, programs that support student health and well-being, and commitment that each student be meaningfully engaged in at least one co-curricular activity that aligns with his interests. Supporting the full potential of our students necessarily demands the inclusion and care of our faculty and staff, whose own flourishing is essential to the realization of our greatest ambitions.
Cultivate a Community of Faith and Hope
Expanding opportunities for all members of our community — students, parents, alumni, and other partners — to be formed in Ignatian spirituality, critically explore complexity, and experience the full meaning of belonging.
One of Brophy’s defining strengths has always been that we are more than just a school—we are a vibrant community. In today’s world, this sense of community is more important than ever. While many traditional institutions, organized religion most notably, have seen declining affiliations in recent decades, Brophy remains a cherished institution, firmly grounded in our Catholic, Jesuit mission. As civil discourse has given way to polarization and demonization, we embrace diversity in all its forms and foster dialogue and mutual understanding. Young people are more connected than ever before, yet they experience a pervasive hunger for authentic relationships and belonging. In the midst of these realities and this present moment, the Brophy community is, and will continue to be, a beacon of hope.

This priority calls us to expand opportunities for all members of our community — students, parents, alumni and other partners — to be formed in Ignatian spirituality, to critically explore complexity, and to experience the full meaning of belonging. We are committed to embracing diversity and fostering authentic, compassionate relationships by way of our collaborative approach to teaching and learning, our vibrant co-curricular life, and the dynamic programming we offer our students, parents, and alumni.
Form Leaders in Service
Deepening our identity as Men and Women for Others by Cultivating a faith that does justice in our students and modeling this as an institution and as an adult community.
As a community anchored in our Catholic, Jesuit mission, we are called to be Men and Women for Others, “living not for ourselves but for God and his Christ.” St. Ignatius said that love is shown more in deeds than in words and thus we commit to a deepening of our identity as servant leaders by cultivating a faith that does justice in our students and modeling this as an institution and a community. We will provide opportunities for transformational service, ensuring that students can share their unique gifts with their communities and cultivate an ethic of leadership throughout their lives.

Build a Brotherhood That Lasts a Lifetime
Strengthening the connections with our alumni and the connections they have with each other in order to enhance the Brophy experience and welcome each Brophy graduate to a lifelong brotherhood.
When a young man graduates from Brophy, he participates in the Commencement Exercises which commemorates a beginning — not an ending. We celebrate the beginning of his tenure as a Brophy alumnus since a Jesuit education is not a race to be won but a mission to be lived. In their places of worship; in business and civic life; and as friends, fathers, and husbands, our alumni are living this mission in exemplary ways and making a profound impact on the world. Grounded in their Jesuit education, our alumni have great affection for each other and for Brophy. This priority seeks to deepen our connection with our alumni and their connection with each other, building a brotherhood that will last a lifetime.
